A small town garden
A derelict area of nettles, six years on is a haven of peace, easy to look after and well used.
A derelict area of nettles is now a practical and usable outdoor space with a contemporary feel. The garden, an extension of the main living space, was planted with black bamboo and structural evergreens for privacy and low maintenance.
Seating for the family of six is provided by a stone terrace outside the living room, a raised deck area, and supplemented by low, pale green walls built for perching and which create structural and vertical definition.
Squared trellis panels screen the back wall and side view, giving an additional dimension while dividing lines of purple slate provide horizontals.
Six years on and the garden is a haven of peace, easy to look after and well used.
