A contemporary courtyard

Reflecting the client’s appreciation of Matisse, four stone panels inspired by the Artist’s work and depicting stages of female life, are positioned in the corner sections of the garden.

This small garden was designed to replace a lawn laid down after a new build. The brief was to create usable outdoor living space with dynamic views from the house. The design rotates around a central water feature and uses different levels to create movement and a garden that performs both aesthetically and practically.

Reflecting the client’s appreciation of Matisse, four stone panels inspired by the Artist’s work and depicting stages of female life, are positioned in the corner sections of the garden. Each panel is set within sympathetic planting which enhances the mood of the image, creating different areas of interest but with a unifying theme. Stainless steel containers and architectural planting complete the contemporary feel.
